There are always those movies during the holidays you watch as a tradition: Elf, The Santa Clause, Love Actually. But how many Thanksgiving movies do you watch or even know of? Of course there is Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving, but here are five movies you should give a try this year.

 

PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES

Starring Steve Martin and John Candy, this 1987 movie about a man traveling home for Thanksgiving with a salesman as his only companion. This has great reviews and has Martin in it, it’s bound to be hilarious.

 

PIECES OF APRIL

Katie Holmes is the star of this movie and plays the black sheep family member who invites her family over for Thanksgiving dinner when she realizes her stove is broken. Watch how her day unfolds and what she does to fix this Thanksgiving disaster. What’s Thanksgiving without dinner anyways?

 

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

With Robert Downey Jr., Holly Hunter and Anne Bancroft, this movie is about a woman who has no choice but to spend Thanksgiving with her family after losing her job and finding out her daughter is spending the holiday with her boyfriend.

 

 

THE MYTH OF FINGERPRINTS

This movie brings back the whole family for Thanksgiving and tells the story of each sibling.

 

JACK AND JILL

Who doesn’t love Adam Sandler? The most recent one made on this list, this movie has Sandler playing both siblings Jack and Jill where Jill comes to visit Jack for Thanksgiving. This comedy will leave you laughing and put you in the right mood for this holiday.
