If you’re that girl that watches scary movies through a hole cut out in her blanket, then I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone. Yes, most of us have been the victim to the name calling (chicken, scaredy cat) and the constant running past dark rooms in utter panic to find that darn light switch, but just because we might not be able to sit through an entire horror flick without yelling, “He’s right behind you, run!” doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to enjoy some movies this month.
Here’s a list of not-so-scary and kind of terrible horror flicks that even I was able to sit through without a single squeal. They might actually give you a laugh or two.

5. The Happening (2008)
Why Mark Wahlberg, why? That’s all I could say after I saw this movie. The plot revolves around a couple and a child trying to escape from a natural disaster that causes its’ victims to commit suicide. Now, this may be one of the most terrible movies I’ve ever seen, so you’re probably wondering why I would even include it on this list, right? It stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel, enough said.

4. Prom Night (2008)
Don’t we all just wish we could go back to our high school prom? Yes, maybe, probably not. To be honest, my high school prom was probably scarier than this movie was, but if you’re in the mood for a little chuckle of how naive high school students are portrayed in movies, then this is the movie for you.

3. One Missed Call (2008)
This is a remake of a Japanese film, so like many remakes it might not live up to expectations. Think of how not scary movies like The Ring were. The plot consists of people receiving voice mails from their future selves about how and when they will die. This may seem like it’d make you never want to answer your phone again, but let’s get real, everyone text messages now, so you shouldn’t even fret.

2. Insidious (2011)
This movie’s storyline consists of parents trying to protect their son from evil spirits that haunt their home. Because that totally happens every day, right? Yes, we all know that little kids in movies can sometimes turn up the creepy factor, but not in this particular film. I’d say your little brother who jumps out at you with a Nerf gun as you walk into a dark room is scarier than the little boy in this movie.

1. Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Five friends spending their vacation in a cabin in the woods, typical horror plot, right? Wrong. It’s not your average horror flick, and the scenes are extremely entertaining. You’ll find yourself asking “Did that just happen?” If you only have the courage to watch one scary flick this month, then this is definitely the perfect pick! Did I forget to mention the completely gorgeous cast?

So grab some popcorn and tell your friends that you’re up for a scary movie. Pop one of these bad boys in and I promise there is no way you’ll be having nightmares. But be prepared for one of your friends picking out a scarier movie to watch after the first. You might have to resort back to looking through your fingers or blanket holes.
