5 Festive Songs You Need For Your Holiday Playlist This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

Whether you start spreading the Christmas joy immediately after October ends or you prefer to wait until December to celebrate, no holiday season is complete without the tunes we love!

Seriously, there’s nothing quite like finally being able to listen to your favorite seasonal tracks— especially after waiting all year long to hit that play button.

If you’re in need of a few more festive songs to kick off your holiday season the right way, look no further! Here are five of my favorite go-to holiday classics sure to be the perfect addition to any holiday playlist this season.

December by Ariana Grande

I like to celebrate the start of December each year with this underrated bop from Ariana Grande’s 2015 Christmas and Chill EP. The track’s R&B/trap-inspired sound, paired with Grande’s laidback vocals, is sure to be the gift you didn’t know you needed this holiday season.

(And, while I’m at it, the entirety of Grande’s Christmas and Chill EP deserves a spot in everyone’s holiday playlist. It’s just that good. And I can’t forget to mention her hit “Santa Tell Me,” which is also just as deserving!)

Santa Baby by eartha Kitt

We’ve all heard the various renditions of this holiday classic, but none of them will ever compare to Eartha Kitt’s take! Her soothing tone brings a feeling of class and elegance to the track that no one else could ever replicate, making it hands down the best version of “Santa Baby” to exist.

Gee Whiz, It’s CHristmas by carla thomas

I think Carla Thomas’ “Gee Whiz, It’s Christmas” has to be my favorite Christmas song of all time. From Thomas’ infectious sound to the track’s funky, upbeat arrangement, this song never fails to jumpstart the feeling of holiday joy for me!

Merry christmas baby by otis redding

Otis Redding’s rendition of “Merry Christmas Baby” is nothing short of a masterpiece. His soulful sound gives the track its inexplicable feeling of warmth and nostalgia. Not to mention, this song also features one of the best bridges known to man.

christmas just aint christmas without the one you love by the o’jays

There’s no better way to end the holiday season than with The O’Jays “Christmas Just Ain’t Christmas Without The One You Love.” Something about this track perfectly encapsulates that feeling of winding down after the holidays, making it a perfect closer as the season nears its end.

Bonus track: ChRistmas Evel by Stray Kids

Being the avid K-Pop stan that I am, I couldn’t resist adding Stray Kids’ “Christmas EveL!” This song’s catchy chorus and addicting raps are all the fun you need for the holidays! (Also, no one can resist Felix’s refrain towards the end of the track; once you hear it, it’ll live in your mind rent-free.)
