A Love Letter to My Fitbit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

Dear Fitbit,

Little did I know the excessive plastic wrapping that Costco put you in was all that stood between us. The clicking of the wrist band, the tapping of your display, it all blew me away with how effortlessly we fit together. It was meant to be. Every step, every buzz, gives me chills. It’s as if you know me better than I know myself. When you take time to recharge, I can’t go on without you. When you’re not by my side, it’s hard to find a reason to go on. Walking seems senseless if I don’t know you’re watching my every step. I never knew I had a competitive side until I strapped you onto my wrist. You constantly push me to be a better person than I was yesterday. And better than my mom, Aunt Sue, and best friend. Even if that means pacing down hallways and up stairs as the clock gets closer to midnight. Every badge earned by exceeding your standards I claim with pride more than any Girl Scout award. I apologize for the times I’ve accidentally dragged you into the shower. I forgot that though you make me feel invincible, you’re nowhere near waterproof. It’s moments like that, and when I don’t break 10,000 steps, that I imagine you deserve better than me. You deserve the farthest strides and the most steps a human can provide you. But you’ve never left my side, and I’m forever grateful for that.

Sincerely,

A beloved Fitbit Owner
