College Station, Texas, November 25, 2023 – On Sunday, December 3, the University Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras will have their final concert of the Fall 2023 semester conducted by the newly welcomed Texas A&M Director of Orchestras, Dr. James Van Zandt.

“The orchestras here at Texas A&M offer a unique and welcoming atmosphere distinct from other universities,” says Dan Selle, who is the concertmaster of the Philharmonic orchestra for the 2023-24 fall semester.

The concert will occur in Rudder Theatre and begin at 5:30 PM. Concerts are typically 1-2 hours which includes the gap of time to set the stage from the Philharmonic to the Chamber orchestra.

Tickets for Admission are FREE when you show your Texas A&M Student ID at the MSC Box Office and $5.00 for non-student general admission. You can get tickets in advance, or right before the concert, at the MSC Box Office in Rudder Tower and online at the MSC Box Office website. Additionally, there will be a live stream of the performance at http://tx.ag/MUSALive.

The University Orchestras of Texas A&M consists of students from different majors with a shared passion for music. The Philharmonic and Chamber orchestras allow students to pursue their musical interests in addition to academics and other involvements.

“The absence of a music major at A&M allows our orchestras to consist of a diverse blend of students with majors including STEM, Pre-Med, Liberal Arts, and many others. Every member of our orchestra is united by a shared passion for music, fostering a warm and inclusive environment,” expressed Dan.

Selle is a biochemistry major and has been a dedicated violinist in the university orchestra since his freshman year. His involvement with the orchestra has allowed him to sustain his musical skills and find community.

“Throughout my five semesters in the orchestra, I’ve had the privilege of building meaningful connections with numerous fellow students, all of whom share a love for creating beautiful music. As a result, I look forward to each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as they provide me with the opportunity to reunite with friends, relax, and create great musical experiences.”

Be entertained by the captivating instrumentals and performances of Texas A&M University’s Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras on the evening of December 3rd.
