MSC Open House is A Must

Gabriela Gomez Student Contributor, Texas A&M University
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

A wonderful piece of advice I received freshman year was to join two clubs.  No more, no less.  And I stuck to it, for the most part.  When I started at Texas A&M, I had no idea how or where to find these clubs I knew I needed to join.  Afterall, I needed to pad my resume.  It was by luck (and a lot of boredom) that I was walking through campus on Sunday, the same day that MSC Open house was being hosted.

What is MSC Open House

At the beginning of the semester, an organization called MSC Open House (not to be mistaken with the MSC) organizes an event.  During this event, the MSC is filled to the brim with tables advertising their clubs.  Two people will be located at a table at all times, and if you let them, they will talk your ear off about their club.  After all, that’s the whole purpose of MSC Open House.

When and Where is MSC Open House

MSC Open House is this Sunday, August 28th, from 1 to 5 pm.  It will be hosted inside the MSC(Memorial Student Center) and right outside the MSC.  Certain areas are reserved for certain types of clubs.  For more information on the set up, check out  @mscopenhouse on instagram.  But for the most part, people just wander through.

Who Should Go to MSC Open House

Everyone should go to MSC Open House.  If you’re already committed to organizations, then go for the free stuff clubs will be handing out.  And if you aren’t a part of any organizations or are looking to add one to the roster, then go to hear everybody’s spiel.  It’s better than looking the organizations up on https://studentactivities.tamu.edu/get-involved/join-an-organization/.

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article.
I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more!
Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed).
In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
