Hot: Things that are “in” or things that I love and think should be supported more!

Not: Things that are “out” or things that I am not here for and think should go.

Hot: All of the student organizations to join!

There are literally hundreds of cool clubs at TAMU! They cater to all sorts of different groups, and you will definitely find something that strikes your fancy. This is where many people meet some of their best friends!

NOT: The Stairs. Everywhere.

They’re in the ILCB. They’re in Heldenfels. They’re in your dorm. Yep, that’s right: stairs that make you feel like you need a lung transplant. Even though I traverse stairs like these multiple times a day, every day, I will never be used to how steep and horrible they are.

HOT: The E-Quad

Despite how traumatizing my engineering classes can be, I LOVE studying in the Zach building or any of the engineering buildings. Even if you’re not an engineering major, you can still study in these buildings, and I find myself getting so inspired by all of the other people studying there.

NOT: Starbucks

Hot take, but I am a Starbucks hater. It’s just not good. I am not a coffee person, but their non-coffee drinks and food are just too expensive. I’d much rather go to Dutch Bros or some cute local coffee shop. They’re usually cheaper and are more efficient. Sorry, not sorry, Starbucks lovers.

NOt: Dining halls

Okay, I know they’re meant to be easy meals for college students, but most meals from the dining hall just aren’t the best. A lot of the time, I end up going for chicken tenders or pizza, or I’m eating some questionable meat on a tortilla. I love the diverse options, but overall, I don’t ever want to go to the dining hall.

HOT: THe Rest of ON-Campus Dining

The other on-campus dining options, such as the MSC and Sbisa food courts, are some of my favorite things to eat. Last semester, I didn’t use around half of my dining dollars, so now I’m using them by going to Panda Express or Chick-Fil-A. My two favorite locations are Copperhead Jack’s in Sbisa or Azimuth in the architecture quad!

NOt: Skipping class or Assignments

Okay…guilty. But going to class is so beneficial and can help you learn the material! Showing up matters and can significantly boost your GPA if you focus. I know it’s hard, but you can do it!

HOT: Having a great Spring Semester!

Reminder to protect your peace, stay focused, and live your best life for this semester! Use your resources and do your best! You can do it!

Allison McGregor is a member of the Texas A&M University chapter of Her Campus. Even though most of her pieces are about personal experiences, she also updates on current events around CSTAT. Beyond Her Campus, Allison is an engineering student at TAMU. She hopes to major in chemical engineering and, she is a newly-inducted member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChe). Allison also has experience working at Chick-Fil-A. When she isn't writing articles for Her Campus, Allison is either listening to music (likely Taylor Swift or Fall Out Boy), writing poetry, or texting her family. Allison is a Navy brat who calls Chesapeake, Virginia home, and a lot of her unusual life experiences will find their way into her articles. She considers herself the second biggest fan of Coca-Cola, next to her mom. They're both kind of bummed that TAMU is a Pepsi campus.
