The Best Local Curbside Options in BCS

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

With the onset of the pandemic and the ever-changing federal and state rules, finding good food can be difficult right now. Although most restaurants in Texas are open at some capacity, it is still a safer and kinder option for you and those around you to order take-out! I’ve come up with a list of some of the best curbside and to-go options in Bryan/College Station to keep your food fun during this difficult time.

Mad Taco

404 Jane St #400, College Station, TX 77840

(979) 704-6266

Since Governor Abbott changed alcohol laws many restaurants allow to-go alcoholic drinks, and the margaritas at Mad Taco are TO DIE FOR! If you’re 21+ you can get certain flavors of margs for only $6 which is a STEAL! What makes Mad Taco different from your regular taco shop are their amazing tortillas made out of tamale bread and unique flavors like their Jerk Chicken Taco. I’m a huge fan of the Chile-Rubbed Chicken Taco and their Mango Margarita, but you can find your own faves by ordering online or calling ahead for curbside! Right now they are only open on weekends, so keep on eye out on the website for changing hours!

Twisted Noodle

2418 Texas Ave S Suite E, College Station, TX 77840

(979) 485-9816

This locally owned restaurant is known for its delicious, handmade ramen noodles that have the most amazing consistency. It’s not your regular ramen! Remember though, this restaurant is closed on Mondays so make sure to visit another time during the week! Twisted Noodle offers curbside or to-go service that is always quick and efficient, not to mention their huge portions of delicious stir-fried ramen!

Nam Cafe

110 Nagle St #1433, College Station, TX 77840

(979) 703-8020

Nam is a local Viatnamese restaurant located right next to campus that has been a favorite of many Aggies. They offer easy curbside or to-go orders that are always ready super quick! Their variety of baos are to die for, and they also serve Milk Tea and Thai Tea! Make sure to check out this Aggie staple!

Remnant of Nawlins

1416 Groesbeck St, Bryan, TX 77803

(979) 218-3362

While this restaurant is a bit farther from campus than the others, it is a go to for many Bryan/College Station locals. One of my good friends from Jasper, Texas (where Cajun food is abundant) says this is some of the best Cajun food she’s had! This is a Black-owned business that has been a staple in the community for years, so call to order some delicious Po-Boys, Gumbo, and more while supporting a wonderful restaurant!

Burger Mojo

209 University Dr E, College Station, TX 77840

(979) 977-6656

Burger Mojo is a new restaurant on University, not too far from campus. They offer super interesting burgers, chicken sandwiches, and even breakfast options like the Chicken and Waffle Foldie. Their avocado salsa can be added to almost anything, and adds that extra kick to your food. PLUS they have a drive-thru which can help you reduce contact with others and stop the spread of COVID-19!

Stella Southern Cafe

4040 Hwy 6 #100, College Station, TX 77845

(979) 704-3207

Known for their amazing homemade biscuits, Stella Southern Cafe has offered quick and reliable curbside service during the pandemic. They also specialize in fresh-squeezed orange juice that is some of the best juice I’ve ever had. You can order online and try any of their delicious takes on the classic biscuits and gravy. I love their beignets and the S.E.C. breakfast sandwich!

Ronin

800 N Main St, Bryan, TX 77803

(979) 704-3294

Ronin is a new farm-to-table restaurant located in Downtown Bryan. All of their food is locally sourced from their farm that’s just a short drive away from the restaurant. They now offer takeout options that you can order online or call in! They do have unusual hours though, you can reach them on Wednesday-Saturday 5-10 pm, or on Sundays from 11am-2pm. Since their menu changes frequently due to seasonal availability check out their website for what they’re offering! They provide a complimentary sourdough starter with to-go orders!

Taco Crave

308 N Main St, Bryan, TX 77803

(979) 485-5460

This is hands down my favorite taco shop in BCS. Before the pandemic when we could dine in person the owner would always come out and talk to us, he would even remember our names and orders! These are authentic, Mexican tacos that you can tell have been made to perfection. Taco Crave offers a variety of flavors, but my favorite is the chipotle chicken with some salsa verde. You can call ahead to order a taco plate, tortas, quesadillas and more!

Whether you’re choosing delivery, curbside, or to dine-in remember to be respectful of others during the pandemic, especially essential workers. Tip extra to show your gratitude to those most affected by recent closures, wear your mask, and make sure to sanitize and wash your hands frequently! Many of these local businesses thrive on the college students in this area, and were hit hard when people moved back to their hometowns in the spring. Be a good Ag and help out the community while enjoying some good food!

Howdy! I am a Senior International Studies major on the Politics & Diplomacy track with a minor in Spanish. I write articles for readers to learn (and laugh) from my experiences, but also to connect with other college women at Texas A&M. I love to travel, write, paint, and spend time with friends!
