Two Simple Ways To Make Your Dorm Room Zen

I firmly believe that your dorm room should be your sanctuary. After a long day of classes or an all-nighter at the library, your room should be a place for relaxation and motivation. It can also be an outlet for creativity and a reminder of what motivates you. Although it might not seem like it at first, your room has the ability to be all of these things; with the right décor of course. Below are two tips to achieve the ultimate zen dorm room.

Aromatherapy:

Aromatherapy is a very effective method of relaxation. Like many university campuses, SU does not allow candles, but there are many other ways to achieve aromatherapy in your room. One way would be to invest in an electric oil diffuser. You can easily plug it up and it diffuses essential oils like, peppermint or lavender, into the air. Many diffusers have the option to change colors or glow in the dark, so they can also be used as lamps. There are many benefits for using essential oil diffusers: it reduces stress, boosts immune system, repels insects, helps you get a good night’s sleep, improves respiratory health and also leaves your room smelling amazing!

Go Green:

If you want to add a piece of nature into your room I would suggest getting an Aloe Vera plant. They require very little maintenance and do not have to be watered as much as other plants. Aloe plants emit oxygen, so keeping one in your room can combat stuffiness. Once it has fully grown you can also use it topically, Aloe is well-known for its healing capabilities and can also be used for skincare and other beauty hacks.
