Boys will be boys? Really? That’s the excuse? It is the 21st century. It is time we stop perpetuating this notion that boys can do whatever they want and get away with it. However, this becomes pretty difficult when even the presidential candidate for the United States is continuing the idea of “locker-room banter” where it is common for men to put women down. So if you are feeling like the world could use a little more girl power right now, check out some of the best women empowerment websites to lift your spirits.

https://actuallyshecan.com/home

“#ActuallySheCanSM is a movement around modern female empowerment, celebrating young women and their ambitions. The movement encourages self-acceptance and champions eliminating the negativity so that aspirations can become realities.”

“Girls Can’t WHAT? was born shortly after Gretchen Cawthon was told by a former business partner that women can’t do web design. Realizing the need for empowering gifts for girls, she quit her marketing job and built girlscantwhat.com from the ground up.”

http://mygirltalk.org/

“Girl Talk is a peer-to-peer mentoring program with a very simple premise: high school girls mentor middle school girls to help them deal with the issues they face during their formative early teenage years.”

http://www.fearlesslygirl.com/

“FearlesslyGirl is an internationally recognized leadership, empowerment and anti-bullying organization dedicated to empowering a generation of young women to be bold, authentic leaders in their lives, schools and communities.”

And last but not least, not to mention your very own Hercampus! Hercampus has always and will continue to always support and redefine what it means to be a woman in today’s age (one of the many reasons I <3 HC).

It’s time to stop teaching girls that boys who are mean to them actually like them and start teaching girls to stand up for themselves. It’s time we get the respect we deserve. These websites are a great place to start!
