A while ago, someone told me that every idea that you’ve had has already been thought of. As a creator, the thought that all the content I am putting out there is unoriginal is both frightening (because plagiarism) and disappointing. So, I’m sorry if you feel like you’ve read this one (or thought of this) before!

Whenever I get excited about the best new idea that just popped up in my head, the concept of this theory haunts me as it echoes in the back of my mind. But as a human being, I find this delightful.

We all go through the same cyclical changes – infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Not all at once and not all in the same way of course, but these fundamental basics have made us all at some point in our lives experience similar emotions and therefore think the same thoughts. Male, female, black, white and everything in between. Realizing this has made me feel more connected to humans, even ones I’ve never met before.

It’s helped me understand the “we are all one” concept better. It’s not a concept I sympathize with but rather empathize with now. This idea has awakened more compassionate and patience in me. It’s a comforting reminder to know in our loneliest hours that we are never alone – not even in our wildest, most bewildered thoughts.

President/Editor-in-Chief here at the Her Campus Stony Brook Chapter! I joined Her Campus in Spring 2018 as a Junior Writer and I am currently majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. My personality is somewhere between Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay. I call that balance. In my free time you can find me doing... I'm a college student, if I appear to have any free time I'm probably procrastinating.
