The concept of studying is no stranger to college students. We always find ourselves dreading it and crying about it. Lately with my own studying, I feel that I’ve found the trick to it and wish to spread my tips along. This may sound cheesy but remembering my goals and why I want to do so well in that class always seems to motivate me. I like thinking about the bigger picture and how this class is a small challenge I have to endure for a better future and reminding myself that I am capable enough to pass. Now this may seem like an obvious one, but attend all your lectures despite how bad you may think the professor is. From my experience, I’ve had professors give extra points for showing up to class and even give out some hints for how to pass their exams. Showing up to class all of the time also lets your face and name be known by the professor which is good, especially in a large university. A third tip I have is buying a planner or coming up with a system that works best for you. For me, it’s cleaning up my room and playing some chill music while I study. I’ve also found that I get my best studying done outside my bedroom. I remember reading somewhere that having two separate spaces for work and socializing is good. It gives a heads up your brain that it is time to work. One last tip I have is studying with friends who are in the same classes your taking. You can each try explaining what each of you understand. This semester I studied a lot more with people than I did last year and I’ve found that it inspires me seeing my friends work, it makes me want to try. It’s also just comforting knowing your not alone, when you find yourself confused with the material. Gifs courtesy of giphy.com
