This Soothing Eye Mask Will Be Your BFF During Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

After more days of running on a max of four hours of sleep than I’d like to admit (not to mention long-a** classes all day long), tired looking eyes have basically become part of my everyday look. While I love designer handbags, they belong on my shoulder, not underneath my eyes. So I’m currently obsessing over under eye masks because they’re such a quick way to pack some extra nutrients into the skin around your eyes. In other words, no one will ever have to know about the all-nighter you just pulled!

So when a friend gifted me the Callyssee Perk Up Your Eyes Caffeine Dermis Mask, I was pretty much already daydreaming of how cute it would be to use them for mini spa days. The masks contain Green Tea and Coffea (yes, coffea) extract, which are known to have soothing and de-puffing properties. Not gonna lie, I didn’t have high hopes for this product, or any eye mask, since it was my first time using one. I just wasn’t convinced that using a product on your skin once could magically make the area smooth, bright and all that other good stuff.

According to the directions on the box, you have to wash your face thoroughly and make sure you remove any eye makeup—eyeliner, mascara, you know the deal! The masks come in packets, so you have to peel them out. They feel kind of cold and squishy, but it’s perfect for soothing tired eyes. You want to place the masks directly below your eye without touching your waterline. At first, I thought the masks were too big, but once I placed them more carefully I saw that they were actually the perfect size.

Confession: I was super disappointed that these caffeine eye masks didn’t smell like coffee even though they contain coffea extract! I was really hoping my room would basically smell like Starbucks.

I left the mask on for about 30 minutes even though the instructions said at least 15, and not to mention one side was slowly slipping down my face every time I glanced in the mirror. But wait, y’all, I was so surprised when I finally removed the masks! My eye area was SO SMOOTH and supple looking and actually brighter! I was so shook I couldn’t stop touching the skin. Two words: Baby’s. Bottom.

I gave these to my friend to try as sort of a pre-College Fashion Week pampering night, and she was just as impressed by the product as I was. I certainly think that a product like this is perfect for any busy college girl looking for 15 minutes to feel refreshed.

If you think your look needs a little extra juice after all the studying and running around campus, give these eye masks a shot. As for me, they’re now a permanent step in my spa day.
