The Perfect Gift for a Traveler

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

I am always searching for cute, sentimental and meaningful gifts to give my friends. However, I am not a fan of the corny and cheesy gifts that will end up sitting in your room for five years collecting dust. I like to give gifts that mean something, but can also be used. I remember sitting at Crazy Beans with my friend, sipping hazelnut coffee and eating buttery multigrain toast, I kept staring at her necklace. I had never seen a necklace like it before. I am so happy I asked about it because it is literally the cutest thing ever and I feel like everyone should have one. That being said this is what the necklace looks like

The necklace can be found on Traveller Collective. It is a chain with removable washers. Each washer has a country’s name engraved in it. You can buy a new washer for every country you have visited and explored. The more you travel, the more washers you add to your necklace. I like it because it is simple and a reminder of the memories you made in each country and of the different cultures and people you experienced there.

If you are not a fan of necklaces, it comes in a keychain form. I think if I were to get one, I would prefer the keychain. In addition, even if you are not big on traveling internationally, you can get washers for each state in the United States that you have traveled to, which is cool. It is almost like a challenge to collect all 50 washers.

Overall, I think this gift is especially perfect for college students who have recently traveled abroad for a semester or even as a graduation gift as a symbol of the future and all the places they will visit.

President/Editor-in-Chief here at the Her Campus Stony Brook Chapter! I joined Her Campus in Spring 2018 as a Junior Writer and I am currently majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. My personality is somewhere between Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay. I call that balance. In my free time you can find me doing... I'm a college student, if I appear to have any free time I'm probably procrastinating.
