Five Instagram Accounts To Follow If You Love Inspirational Art

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

Instagram, like any other social media platform, has its good and its bad. You can spend hours scrolling aimlessly, and end up wasting time or comparing yourself to others. But you can also use Instagram in a positive way by following accounts that post helpful or inspirational content. Here are 5 Instagram accounts that you should follow if you love artsy, aesthetically-pleasing, inspirational content and words of wisdom.

1. @thefemalewarhol

This account posts daily quotes, and what I like about this page is that the artist formats the images to make it appear as if the quotes themselves were found outside. For example, the designs often feature quotes on street signs or billboards. This account also sells prints of their designs online.

2. @lipseymichael

This account is run by Michael Lipsey, an artist and author who posts his art pieces along with aphorisms – all encompassing quotes about life in general. His posts feature a more neutral color palette, usually with a watercolor background and photographs in the forefront.

 3. @lucialitman

Lucia Litman is an artist based in San Francisco who shares not only her lifestyle related posts- fashion, travel, etc. but also posts quotes and her own thoughts and experiences. Her page is extremely colorful and bright, and her words are truly touching.

4. @subliming.jpeg

This page is run by Tessa Forest, and graphic designer and creative based in New York City. Her posts feature inspirational quotes, focused on typography – she uses a wide range of fonts, and many of her posts feature multiple color palettes for the same designs. If you’re into typography, then her page is definitely for you. She also sells prints of her work here.

5. @bunnymichael

Bunny Michael is a musician, visual artist and author and creator of the Higher Self Meme Project on Instagram. Their memes feature two statements: one from the “self”, and one from the “higher-self. Essentially, the “higher thoughts” are more emotionally-intelligent, self-aware, and wiser versions of the previous thoughts.

All of these instagram pages have helped me in some way or another, by providing insight, thought or just a quote that I saw at just the right time. Content from these pages have often been the little boost I needed to overcome an obstacle, get through a rough day, or see one of my problems in a different perspective. If you want to improve your experience on Instagram by consuming more helpful content, then these pages are definitely for you.

President/Editor-in-Chief here at the Her Campus Stony Brook Chapter! I joined Her Campus in Spring 2018 as a Junior Writer and I am currently majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. My personality is somewhere between Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay. I call that balance. In my free time you can find me doing... I'm a college student, if I appear to have any free time I'm probably procrastinating.
