By now, I’m sure everyone has heard the term “hot girl walk,” and has possibly given it a try themselves. If you haven’t tried it yet, this is your sign to start.

When I first saw this trend on TikTok, I thought to myself, “What’s the point? It seems like it wouldn’t do anything for me that regular gym time couldn’t do.” I had found myself in a funk and needed something to pull me out. So, I wanted to try it and bring my own opinion to the table. I decided to grab my headphones, my dog, and turn on my favorite podcast.  At first, it honestly felt a bit unnerving, I knew I had so much to do when I got back, but I also knew it may be good for me.

Now, the walk itself was refreshing. Being outside in the fresh air (on a nice day) was amazing and I loved every second of it. I didn’t love when my dog was trying to chase a leaf that flew by, but that’s beside the point. I felt like I was in a bit of a slump before taking the walk, and now I feel ready to conquer everything I’m faced with. After the walk, I took the extra step of journaling the experience, so I can look back on it whenever I need an extra push. If you decide to take your own “hot girl walk,” which I recommend slump or not, here are 5 tips:

  1. Be open minded

For something like this, you have to have a bit of an open mind, especially if it’s out of your comfort zone.

  1. Bring a friend (or a dog)

If you’re a bit anxious getting out there and unsure of how it’s going to be for you, then bring a friend to calm your nerves. It may be a little easier if there is someone there to talk to.

  1. Listen to something

Not everyone loves podcasts, so it may be your thing to turn on your favorite song. Whatever you might listen to, I found it a lot easier to listen to something.

  1. Look around

You would be surprised at how much you do not notice in your normal surroundings by just looking around. This can help you be more grateful for everything around you.

  1. Have fun with it

The biggest tip you could take from all this is that no one is pressuring you to go out and do your “hot girl walk” for a certain amount of time. Listen to your mind and body and just have fun.
