Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

As far back as I can remember, my family’s Thanksgiving day celebration always kicks off with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This spectacular event (celebrating it’s 86th year!) starts this November 22 on New York City’s 77th Street and Cental Park West, following a route along 6th Avenue to Macy’s Department Store in Herald Square.

Because I’m from Massachusetts (and my father is originally from New York), I’ve personally attended the parade many times over the years. Most recently, I watched the parade from Times Square during my sophomore year at St. Olaf. Two of my best Ole friends also flew out with me for a fun-filled Thanksgiving trip to New York City. The following photos are from the parade two years ago…

Whether you watch this year’s parade or not, I hope you enjoy spending time with your friends and family, celebrating your own Thanksgiving traditions.

Happy Thanksgiving St. Olaf!
