Something that is absolutely essential for me in order to have a successful workout is a good music playlist. Although I have created a lineup of songs that goes on for almost five hours and seems to get longer everyday, I have narrowed my list down to my top ten favorite songs to workout to (recorded in no particular order). These classic jams never seem to get old and are guaranteed to increase your drive and determination however you chose to exercise.

10. Levels – Radio Edit → Avicii

This song never fails to increase my willpower and encourages me to push even harder at the gym. An oldie but a goodie, Levels by Avicii will pump you up with its catchy, instrumental beat.

9. Girls Just Want to Have Fun → Cyndi Lauper

An everlasting classic! I don’t even think that I have to describe why this song is so amazing, but I highly advise that you put it on your workout playlist ASAP! This tune is never unsuccessful in putting me in a good mood and making my workout experience more enjoyable.

8. The Mother We Share (Vanic Remix) → CHVRCHES

The amount of times I can listen to this song over and over again is ridiculous! Every time it comes on, I cannot resist the urge of wanting to get up and dance. The perfect song for almost any happy occasion, but an even better song to workout to.

7. Old Thing Back (feat. Ja Rule and Ralph Tresvant) → Matoma

Yet another tune that never seems to get old, Matoma’s Old Thing Back remix is amazing song to have on your workout playlist. It’s fun and catchy tune is ensured to make your exercise routine even better and will inspire you to memorize every word (if you are familiar with this song, you will understand what I mean!).

6. Thunderstruck → ACDC

If you’re like me and love “dad music,” this is the song for you. This popular anthem is the background music to almost every hockey game you will ever attend because of its exciting and lively beat. This is also a great song to listen to before you begin your workout to get you in the zone!

5. Crazy → Gnarls Barkley

I never thought that this would be a good song to exercise to until it was listed on a curated Apple Music workout playlist. Boy was I wrong! I’m not really sure why, but every time this song comes on while I’m at the gym I am immediately more motivated and seem to move even faster. I highly recommend giving this song a try next time you find yourself at the gym, going on a run, etc.

4. Shake It → Metro Station

I have been an adamant fan of this song ever since the day it hit the radio. Not only does this song provide me with happy childhood memories and nostalgia, but its rhythm will keep your feet moving and encourage you to put in that extra mile.

3. You Sexy Thing → Hot Chocolate

I give myself full credit for making my friends fall in love with this classic hit. I am obsessed with this song! I cannot resist singing along to the words and am guaranteed to be mouthing the lyrics while on the elliptical. This song is irresistible and I really cannot imagine how anyone could not like it.

2.  Black Skinhead → Kanye West

I have had several conversations with people where I have argued that this is one of the best songs to workout to EVER. I really cannot explain nor describe why I am so insistent on this belief, but I think that if you listen to this while exercising you will understand. Also, I think that most Kanye West songs are great components to a prosperous workout, thus many of them are found on my playlist.

1. Turn Me On → Kevin Lyttle

This is another song that provides me with nostalgic, but cheerful vibes. I have only recently rediscovered my love for this throwback and have determined that it is extremely helpful in achieving a good workout. I have never once skipped this song and do not think that I will ever be doing so.

I understand that this is an eclectic selection of music, but I think that at least a few of my favorite songs to work out to could be potentially added to your playlists. Give these songs a listen and you will recognize why I love them all so much! Enjoy your workouts! HCXO
