Meet the Team: President Suzie Littlewood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sonoma chapter.

Her Campus at Sonoma State will be doing a series of interviews with the writers and officers of our club, and we’re starting with our new president, Suzie Littlewood!

HC: Congrats on being the chapter president! What’s your favorite part about being president so far?

SL: Aw thanks! I still can’t believe it sometimes, I still look around and go “wait where’s Carly?!” haha. But it’s been pretty awesome. The best part of being president is working with all you cuties, duh! But really I love working with this team. I’ve made such great friends here, it’s so much fun, and I’m so happy that this is a part of my life.

HC: Speaking of presidents…what’s you’re opinion on our current President of America?

SL: Oh god.. Well anyone who knows me knows that I’m as left as they come so it’s pretty safe to say I’m not a fan of our predator-in-cheese. I would say I look forward to his inevitable impeachment, but then we get his sidekick, and he’s less than stellar. In general I think the whole group is rotten. But it’s been great joke material, and great article material as well!

HC: What are some of the things you love about Her Campus?

SL: Well first and foremost, the group of writers. I love reading everyone’s articles and just interacting with you all! I also love the platform Her Campus provides. The ability to let people, especially women, write about whatever they’re feeling is really empowering and also really fun.

HC: You’re a senior at SSU! Have any advice for the underclassman?

SL: Oh dear god don’t remind me, I can’t believe it. The senioritis has started to set in though. Just enjoy it, enjoy the hell out of it! I seriously can’t believe I’m going on my fourth year here, I feel like I just moved into my freshman dorm yesterday. But really, take your time and enjoy college. Do all of the things that you won’t get to do in the real world. Have fun and talk to people, make friends and connections. Get super involved in your major and your department! Don’t stay in every weekend but don’t go out every weekend, either. Make it an entire experience, not just classwork.. it’ll change your life. I’m getting so nostalgic now, oh my god. Next question before I cry!

HC: Favorite thing to do when you’re not working, studying, or being a kickass president?

SL: Aw well I love to hang out with my cat, my roommate, and my friends! I love to read, I’m currently working through all of Roxane Gay’s work. She’s an amazing feminist writer and I think more people should read her stuff so check her out if you want some solid feminist literature!

HC: Why should others join Her Campus?

SL: Obviously to get to know me! Just kidding. But really, to get to know this community. We have a great group of women writing for us, and it’s also a really fun way to be creative! It’s so incredibly empowering to be able to voice your own opinions, and it’s great writing practice. You learn how to write, edit, work with various social media platforms, do research, and do outreach into the community. Joining was one of my best decisions as a Sonoma State student and I highly recommend it!
