Kylie Walker is one of the many awesome writers at HerCampus Sonoma, and can often be found typing up an article in Charlie Brown’s and occasionally on stage with the Vagina Monologues pretending to be a hip old grandma! And whatever she puts her mind to, she rocks it.
HC: Hi Kylie, thanks for letting HerCampus interview you! Tell me a little about yourself.
KW: My name is Kylie Walker, and I’m a Sophomore from Orange County, CA. I’m an English major with a focus in creative writing & Women and Gender Studies double major.
HC: What is a fun fact about yourself? KW: I’ve been a vegetarian since March 2016!
HC: Yo, that’s awesome. Why did you go vegetarian?
KW: I went vegetarian because I had to eat in the caf and the meat there always made me sick. My mom has been a vegetarian for my whole life so I grew up not eating a lot of meat, but eating at the caf just kind of gave me that push. I also think it’s easier to eat healthy when you aren’t eating meat because you don’t have as many options at fast food places, etc. ALSO, it feels cruel to eat cows and chickens because they’re cool animals & the way they’re slaughtered and processed is really gross and will make you never want to eat meat again.
HC: Do you have a favorite food or favorite recipe you could share with us?
KW: My go-to vegetarian recipe is couscous (plain is okay as long as you add some olive oil!) with sauteed sesame ginger tofu, sauteed zucchini & onions!!! It’s really yummy :))))
HC: Sounds delicious, I’ll have to try that. What are you involved in on campus?
KW: I’m involved in maybe too many things on campus. I am currently the president of URGE, soon to be known as GEAR, I write for Her Campus, and I’m involved in the Vagina Monologues & SQE (Students for Quality Education). Recently URGE & SQE put a 5k on for undocumented students & that was pretty cool.
HC: Wow, aren’t you popular! Do you have a favorite thing about Sonoma State?
KW: The friends I’ve made along the way ;) I’m only half joking.
