Spring has sprung and with it comes sorority formals, fraternity “away weekends”, day parties and late nights filled with drinking and whatever food sounds good at midnight. You need sleep and are in desperate need of some healthy food, yet you don’t want to miss out on the all the events going on. It can be overwhelming trying to maintain your social life and your physical health, but balancing the two is possible with moderation. If you are struggling with balancing them, refer to the following when you find yourself overwhelmed:

1. Pick and choose which events to go “all in”, and which events to simply attend, but not “go crazy” at. Pick one event per week to drink and eat what you want. Pick this event when you know you can catch up on sleep the next day.

2. Fill your room with healthy snacks so that when you come back to your room at 2 a.m., you will end up eating baby carrots instead of Oreos.

3. On the nights that you do drink alcohol, break up your drinks with some water. You will thank yourself the next day.

4. If you want to have a mellow night out, fill a cup with water and have a good time! You don’t have to be drunk to have a good time.

5. Dancing burns calories! Drinks are filled with sugar, so hitting the dance floor can help burn some of the calories you just put on.
