Clean Eats: 10 Healthy Restaurants in Dallas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

After experiencing BBQ, Torchy’s Tacos and Whataburger as a newbie in Texas, I found that the one thing I always crave is a hardy but healthy meal outside of the dining halls. Regardless of your prior notion regarding the word “healthy” these places will satisfy your hunger and cravings without having to loosen that belt buckle tomorrow.

Crisp Salad Company

8018 Park Ln, Dallas, TX and 2020 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX

With two locations in Dallas, if you ever get a craving for a salad made with fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables Crisp isn’t far away. Personal Favorite: Super Food Salad featuring grilled shrimp, spinach, quinoa, marinated apple, grilled sweet corn, black beans, and lemon vinaigrette.

Freshii

Salads, wraps, bowls, juices, soups, smoothies, fro-yo! They have it all at Freshii. With four locations in Dallas, Freshii is a fast, healthy option that allows those of us with busy lives to still get great food.

Green House Market

8687 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75225

Located in North Park, this classy eatery provides the comfort foods minus the guilt. From spaghetti squash to their black bean and quinoa burger, you can get your cravings fullfilled and even top it off with dessert. Dessert? Yes, if you have not had their chia seed pudding then this trendy dessert is reason alone to come try Green House Market.

Modern Market

7949 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75230

With bread, butter, and many other items made in house, this place was so good I had to go twice in one weekend! But no shame was required because the bright atmosphere woke me up even without coffee, and the food was so fresh and satisfying I could have licked my plate… had the resturant not been full of other guests. Personal Favorite: Proushuitto with Eggs. This delish dish also comes with whole grain house made toast and butter, a green salad with maple dressing to make your day truly start sunny side up.

Nekter

6712 Snider Plaza, Dallas, TX 75205

This juice bar has a variety of resfreshing options for those warmer days in Dallas. Located in Snider Plaza, you can easily walk over from SMU and get a juice, smoothie, or açai bowls filled with fresh fruit (and veggies, despite their delicious fruity taste). This juice bar even has an app which allows you to pay online, order ahead, and scan while in store for a free item every 10 visits!

Snap Kitchen

With various locations all around Dallas, Snap Kitchen offers twists on your favorite dishes. Craving pancakes? They’ve got almond butter and maple, lemon ricotta, or banana flavor. They have just as many options for all your dietary lifestyles. They offer dairy free, gluten free, paleo, pescatarian, vegan, and vegetarian options.

True Food Kitchen

8383 Preston Center Plaza #100 Dallas, Texas 75225

This upscale resturant takes a healthy spin on classics with their seasonal menu including House Made Chicken Sausage Pizza, Tuscan Kale Salad, Spagetti Squash Caserole, and Housemade Refreshers that are filled with ingredients to kick any cold, hangover, or pure craving for soda.

Garden Café

This café features its own espresso bar and garden. With an indie vibe, Garden Café delivers food from the garden straight to the table, and what can be fresher than that? Make sure to try their sweet potato pancakes when you step “off the beaten path” and into this delicious find.

The Stock Exchange

Garden Café also has its own litte community general store which currently features fresh produce, loaves of bread, books, and candles. The owner of Garden Café opened up shop to provide the neighborhood with grocery store items they shouldn’t have to drive to go get. Even if you’re just browsing, stop in and check out the vintage books as you walk off your meal from next door.

Kozi

4423 McKinney Ave Dallas, TX 75205

With practically everything on the menu being gluten free and made with fresh produce, this is a great place to take those friends that have trouble eating out due to dietary needs. They offer a crazy good, snapchat worthy Stuffed French Toast, Wild Salmon and Risotto, and mad desserts such as their Cookie Monster Cake and Nutella Cake. Whether you try their breakfast, lunch, dinner or just dessert, you will be returning for more.
