While we imagine that our first time should be with someone who loves us, we forget that no one will ever understand us the way we understand us. According to Scotts Valley Medical Clinic, 90% of sex is mental, which means your own mind is almost solely responsible! Thus, we are the only ones that know our every thought, emotion, and secret. We have been together for 18+ years, through good times and bad.

It is ourselves who should unwrap the art of making love, to know one’s body long before you decide another human being deserves to know it too. You should trust yourself with your body first because only you can guarantee patience, gentleness, acceptance, a safe environment, and encouragement. You get to be the first to love yourself and be the one who causes your body to light up in a million different ways. If that’s not convincing enough, here are 10 more reasons:

  1. No one deserves you as much as you deserve yourself.

  2. You should know what makes you feel good before you ask someone else to hold that responsibility.

  3. You don’t have to feel shy or embarrassed with yourself. No one is watching!

  4. Your first orgasm should be the result of your own doing! Nothing is more fulfilling.

  5. The most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself.

  6. You should know that you don’t NEED a partner to fulfill you.

  7. You can save yourself a lot of stress by already knowing that you’ve “lost” your virginity to yourself.

  8. You will have this body for the rest of your life…worship it as it deserves!

  9. Once you completely love yourself, you can allow others to love you too, body and mind.

  10. Being responsible for your own sexual happiness will make you feel like superwoman.

  11. You don’t have to fear pregnancy or STDs during your first time.

  12. No one should “claim” you or “steal” your virginity. You deserve to harness the title of your first (and lifelong) lover!

  13. You’ll be more sexually confident!!!

Still not convinced? Check out this great overview on the importance of making love to yourself on a spiritual level.
