The friends you make at college are a completely new and different kind of friends. Obviously you guys are best friends because you get along really well, but your best friend at college takes on a “mom” role that you didn’t even know you needed when you left for college. She’s your bestie, so she’s got your back. But she also lives with you and helps take care of you. She’s there to give you friend advice and mom advice, like to let loose and have fun sometimes but also buckle down and write that paper first.
When you’re sick, she’ll make sure you’re all stocked up on tissues and cough medicine. When you’re sad, she’ll let you cry it out. You guys live together, so you share meals and clothes and basically everything. You could say she’s like a sister in that way, but she does more than just steal your clothes and watch movies with you. She’ll check in to make sure you’re doing okay if you spend too much time in your room. She’ll know if you had a bad day and make sure your favorite snacks are waiting for you when you get home.
She makes sure that you eat your veggies but also tells you to pig out when you need to. She’s supportive of your decisions but critical when she knows you’re making a mistake. She’ll give you just the kind of tough love you need. But let’s be honest, no matter how “mom-like” your friend treats you, she’s always going to be your friend first!
