Happy Thoughts For The Last Push To Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

With spring break a mere week away, I have found myself overwhelmed with an abundance of stress. Each class has plenty of assignments due, tests assigned, essays to be written, or projects to be completed. The processing of housing is approaching, and many I am sure many are like me and have little clue what is going to happen. Everyone is overtired and cranky, and needs a break.

As much as I wish it were not true, I fall prey to negativity before each school break. Sometimes it may seem as the days towards break are decreasing, the work needed to get done is increasing. We may get grumpy at friends, roommates, or classmates. We may mess up and miss assignments, or simply by having too much work, are unable to put our best work forward.

Here is a list of some positive things to keep in mind as you get ready for spring break! Hopefully, with these in mind, you will gain composure and confidence to do all you must do in time.

1.     When you come back, it will be March 20th, and spring will be here (or close to getting here!): No more walks to Alliot in 10-degree weather at 7:30 when all you want to do is stay in your warm dorm for the day.

2.     After spring break, there is only a month left before the long weekend for Easter, and then only 2.5 weeks until the start of finals: Although those weeks will require a lot of hard work, a well-deserved longer summer is quickly approaching

3.     Derby Day and P-Day are also approaching!

4.     Plans for spring break: While it’s important to stay focused on your work, it’s also ok to get excited for all the things your week off will entail. For a study break, maybe contact some people from back home and plan something fun to do. Book an appointment to get your nails done. Go shopping for new warm-weather clothing. Read a book you’ve been craving to get into.

5.     Remember how stressed you had been before winter break: Those feelings passed, and these will too. When you think back to your college experience, you won’t necessarily remember the night you stayed up cramming for a Psychology midterm. You will, instead, feel a strong sense of satisfaction for all the hard work and effort you put forth, and the good memories you made.

Best of luck to everyone during this last push! We’ll get through this!
