Everyone’s Second to Least Favorite Week: Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

It’s hard to believe, but fall semester is nearly half over and we all know what that means….it’s midterm season and it’s approaching with a vengeance. I don’t know about you, but this semester has been a SERIOUS push. It seems like there hasn’t quite been a lull in the academic year yet, but not to fear. I’ve got some killer survival tips for finals preseason.

1. Take a look at your class syllabus and review what you have due and when. Organization is key and if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

2. Do a little bit each day instead of designating full days to write a paper or study. You’ll remember more if you don’t cram and your paper will be better if you look at it a few times

3. Do one thing each day for yourself. This could be as simple as taking a nap, going for a run, or getting off campus. The point is, if you’re not in a good mental state going into a high stress week, when the stress hits it’ll hit that much harder. Take care of yourself. Your overall well being is more important than one grade.

4. Reach out to your professors. Especially if you have yet to turn in any major assignment for the class yet, if you talk to them about your midterm, you’ll have a better idea of what they are looking for specifically. Also, professors love to connect with their students, hit up their office hours or shoot them an email. It’ll only help you in the long run.

5. Lastly, get some sleep and eat well. Your body needs both in order to fully function at it’s best and don’t forget to treat yo self. Chocolate reduces stress…or something.

Hopefully following these tips, you’ll take midterms by storm. Good luck on this upcoming week, you got this!
