It’s that time of year again! Everyone is coughing, sneezing, and the flu is running rampant across campus. College life is busy, but there are some easy things you can do to decrease your chance of getting sick:

1. Keep Hand Sanitizer Nearby

This is one of the easiest preventatives for getting sick, but can be easy to forget. If you buy a bottle of hand sanitizer for your room and leave it on your desk, you’ll use it throughout the day whenever you see it. Bath & Body Works has delicious smelling mini sanitizers you can slip into your backpack or purse!

2. Take Vitamin C

First of all, make sure you’re eating enough fruits and vegetables which naturally contain this flu-fighting vitamin. But once you get sick of Alliot cantaloupe and green beans, I recommend investing in some vitamin C gummies or Emergen-C.

Can you use Emergen-C as a chaser? It might be gross, but it’s worth a ~shot~

3. Stay Hydrated

When it’s 20 degrees out, it can be easy to forget about staying hydrated. Drinking water throughout the day is key in preventing a dry, itchy throat (as well as dry skin). To make sure you’re staying hydrated, keep a bottle of water with you at all times, and you’ll drink more water without even noticing.

4. Drink Tea with Honey

When you have a sore throat but don’t feel like spending $15 on DayQuil, drink some tea! Green tea and ginger tea have antioxidants that fight off sickness, and honey will soothe your throat.

5. Don’t go to class!

If you’re getting sick, taking a day off from class to recuperate can work wonders. Plus, your professors don’t want you spreading your sickness to classmates or themselves. Just make sure you tell them you’re missing class ahead of time!
