FALL in Love With These Recipes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SLU chapter.

Fall is upon us and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by filling your kitchen with the smell of pumpkin and your stomach with warm pumpkin goodies.

1. DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte (because I’m running out of money for my daily $5 PSL)

Ingredients

For Latte:

  • ¼ cup pumpkin sauce

  • 2 oz. espresso

  • 8 oz. milk of choice

  • Whipped cream and cinnamon, to garnish

For Pumpkin Sauce:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ tsp. Pumpkin spice seasoning

Directions

  1. Prepare the espresso.

  2. Warm and froth milk (you can do this by heating it on the stove and whisking it).

  3. Make pumpkin sauce (place pumpkin sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer about 10 minutes and then in a food processor and process til smooth).

  4. Add pumpkin sauce into frothed milk-espresso mixture.

  5. Top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

  6. Enjoy!

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground ginger

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix together milk, pumpkin, egg, oil, and vinegar.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just enough to combine.

  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Pour the batter in and brown on each side.
