Come Morning Light: a Poem

I won't say that the bad won't happen

And I can't say that everything will get better.

But what I can promise you--

Come morning light,

The flowers will be beautiful,

The air will seem softer,

Kinship will flicker brighter--

Come morning light,

Not everything will be perfect,

But enough of the "good" will outlast the "bad"

Beyond the arbitrary categories

A laugh will outweigh your scars,

A smile will outlast your anxieties,

The beauty will linger longer

When it all comes down

We remember the good with the bad,

The laughter and the scars.
