It can be exhausting, not only physically, but mentally, to enter college. I found myself crying every so often just to balance out my emotions. It’s scary to go somewhere new. College can be especially scary because there’s so many people who don’t know you. These are a few of the poems I listen to whenever I feel insignificant.

“You Are A Miracle” by Nikita Gill
This poem is wonderful because it is so scientific. Every word Gill says is true, and the way she speaks is trustworthy. The accompanying music and visuals work well, giving a sense of wonder even when it’s just you in a small dorm room with a loud roommate. I recommend this poem because it is a journey to a sunrise– the poem feels like slowly watching the dawn rise. It will be okay.

“Today Means Amen” by Sierra Demulder
This poem holds similar values to Nikita Gill’s, but has a different rhythm. More emotionally realistic. Demulder speaks specifically to the heart, while Gill speaks to the head. Demulder knows just when to speak simply and when to create imagery that sticks with you for days. This poem is beautiful because of how much love she puts into every word.

“For Teenage Girls” by Clementine Von Radics
This poem is badass and inspiring, and something I listened to all throughout high school. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that you have so many people to look up to that look like you. This poem is about your greatness, and what tries to extinguish you. It is perhaps not quite the rallying cry that Sierra Demulder gives, but it is a soft calling. A quiet climb. This poem is urging you up towards the stars.
