As finals week is approaching, there is immense pressure to do well on end of the year papers, projects, and tests. During these times, things can feel extremely stressful, so below are some of my best tips for distress:
1. Take breaks! Sometimes we can get into a rhythm of putting our all into something with little time to decompress. In my experience, it is extremely helpful to stop studying and do something I enjoy for a short bit. Whether that be getting lunch with a friend or doing crafts.
2. Walking or doing any other cardio/physical movement has also proven to work well for me. At times, I can be studying for hours and barely leave my dorm. Over time, I have noticed that I need to get out and take in some fresh air to be at my best.
3. Provide yourself with reassurance. Reminding yourself that everything will be okay and that this moment is only temporary can do wonders, in my opinion. After all, in no less than two weeks, you will be soaking up the sun by the beach.
Be kind to yourself this finals’ week. You’re doing the best you can, and that’s enough. In those moments that feel stressful, take a break, do cardio, and reassure yourself. In the end, everything will be fine and you got this!
