The time has finally arrived, and the spring semester has begun! As we continue to work through the school year on Zoom, many students find themselves feeling tired throughout the day. I am one of those students, and with this feeling, I tend to lack motivation. However, during winter break I took some time to find new ways that I could prepare myself for the upcoming semester. Here are 5 tips, I have found that help with keeping yourself motivated through the day.

1. Take Breaks!!!

Find time to take mini-breaks during your day!! This has been a game-changer for me while getting back into my schoolwork. In between assignments or Zoom classes I give myself about a fifteen-minute break to do as I please. During this time, I try to grab a quick snack and relax. In this short amount of time, I am able to regroup and get back on track with my assignments without overwhelming myself.

2. Stay Hydrated!

This is something that honestly slips my mind but makes all the difference. Having a glass of water on your desk throughout the day will encourage you to continue finishing and refilling that glass. I find that in the morning I like having a cup of coffee or tea since that helps get me through my early morning Zoom classes. However, throughout the rest of the day, I try to get my daily water intake as well.

3. Journal

Some days are more stressful than others, so a way to calm yourself down is writing. Whatever comes to mind that you just want to let go of, put it all on paper. This will help relieve whatever stress you may be feeling, hopefully allowing you to feel a sense of relief. Taking five minutes out of your evening to reflect on the day, and what you took away from it.

4. Make a To-Do List

Rather than attempting to remember all the tasks I need to accomplish throughout the day, making a quick to-do list is a perfect way to start the morning. In doing so, I do not have to stress about forgetting an assignment and I have them all written out in front of me. Along with this, the satisfaction you will feel upon checking off your assignments throughout the day will have you feeling productive.

5. Treat Yourself

While continuing to work hard, many of us tend to forget about making time for the things we enjoy. For myself, this is taking a break to make a milkshake and watch an episode of my favorite show. This little time I take for myself completely changes my mood in a more positive direction. I really encourage all of you to find something that makes you happy and take the time for it.

I hope these help you as much as they helped me! Have a great semester!
