1. College is NOT high school
So, don’t treat it like such. Werk for it.
2. Not procrastinating feels so good
Like so good. Do you have any clue how nice it is when you’ve finished all of your homework for the week by Wednesday and actually get to enjoy the weekend
3. Make time for mental health everyday
Not every day has to be spent stressing about deadlines and exams.
Breathe, meditate, see a counselor, vent to a friend…. Find what works and make time for it!
4. Enjoy your classes
You chose to study this. This is about you, so have fun with it.
5. Talk to your professor
Why did it take me so long to do this? They actually love it, and while I can not confirm this, I am convinced that the only reason I passed anatomy 2 was because my professor knew me and saw me putting in the work.
6. One bad test is not the end of the world
In fact, multiple bad tests isn’t either
7. Retaking classes is OKAY
Did I enjoy taking organic chemistry twice? NO. But did I enjoy getting a full 10 points above my first grade? HELL YES.
8. Exercise and diet
Sports are fun: Whether it’s collegiate-level, club, or intramurals, it’s a great way to get to know people and so much fun. Exercise is good for physical health, mental health – all of the healths. Find what type works for you and DO IT.
Do not let your dining hall be an excuse to eat pizza every night. Getting in shape is NOT just running – it includes diet and strength training
9. Time Management
This is the most important thing to learn for real life. Figure out what works for you, only YOU can find what works
10. Find the people who bring the best out in you
The people who push you to do work AND go out on Saturday night
