There is some comfort in predictability, knowing what is around the corner is easier than anticipating change. But in a way change is something that is predictable because change is always going to happen in our lives. It may be subtle, like a change of interests that leads you to switch your hobbies, or something major like a new major. These small moments of change can lead us to great triumphs in our lives.

In one of my favorite songs, “Younger Now” by Miley Cyrus, a line really stuck out to me. “Change is a thing you can count on” is a quote that I try to think of everyday at school because we never know what is around the corner, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. If you feel your interests changing, maybe it’s with your friends or old hobbies you used to love, try to remember this song quote. Nothing stays the same, but it could lead to more doors opening then you ever thought possible. I had a change of interest when I first came to Siena, I started off as a biology major. As much as I thought I wanted to be a vet after college, my interests changed over to politics. The switch at first was unexpected and not what I had mapped out in my head, but so many doors have opened for me since my major change.

New interests are something great to explore, but if you feel nervous about unpredictability, think back to what Miley said!
