Her Campus Siena: What made you want to become involved with Mr. Siena?

Michael Averill: I chose to participate in Mr. Siena because I saw it as an incredible opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone, raise money for the amazing work done by Habitat for Humanity, and also become a part of a fun and exciting night at Siena!

HCS: Have you done any service trips? If so, where?

MA: I have been on two service trips to the St. Francis Inn which is a Franciscan soup kitchen located in Philadelphia, serving the homeless population of the Kensington neighborhood. I went for the first time during spring break of my freshman year and went again during this past winter break. I had incredible experiences both times at the inn and I can’t wait to go back!

HCS: Are you doing any service trips in the spring?

MA: No, but I do eight to 10 hours of service per week in the Capital Region as a Bonner Service Leader at Siena!

HCS: Let’s give the people some hints…what special talent might we see at Mr. Siena?

MA: Simplicity is key.

HCS: What would you like to say to the people of Siena?

MA: Siena College is truly a place like no other. Take advantage of every opportunity that this college presents and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and get involved. We only get to be college students once!
