Knowing what you want to major in is only half the battle. Once you know that, you now have to decide what you want to do with that major.
Internships can help with that, I know it certainly did with me. Getting an internship in what you think you want to do can either help solidify what you thought you wanted to do, or make you rethink what path you want to go down.
When an internship involves you doing actual work that you would be doing once you graduate, it helps you figure out what you want to do even more. When it is just basic office work or getting people coffee, that really doesn’t allow you to see if you can see yourself doing that for the rest of your life. Internships are a critical part of the college experience and education, since they can determine what path you want to follow and can help you get a future job. Internships that you enjoy are also a lot more fun to go to and you get sad when you have to miss it.
So, go out there and get a fun internship that will help you get a job!
