1. Coconut oil!! Whenever you feel like your hair is dry, or not as silky as you would like it to be, coconut oil is the answer. It’s not as expensive as hair care products that claim to repair your hair. Be wary of these products and read the ingredients! If they contain alcohol, which most do, then you are actually hurting your hair more in the end. Here’s the how to: take some coconut oil out of the jar, put it into a microwave safe bowl and microwave until liquefied. Be careful not to have it too hot, because it is still oil and will burn your skin/scalp. Use however much you think you will need to cover your entire head of hair. Coat all of your hair, spending extra time on the ends. Leave it in for at least twenty minutes and wash your hair after. For the best results leave in overnight. Make sure you still condition while washing your hair and you will feel the difference after the first treatment. Coconut oil is also said to promote hair growth, and what lady doesn’t want long luscious hair?!
2. Limit the use of heated hair tools. I know we all love the look of straight hair, or the cute curls we get using a wand. But using these tools everyday will ruin your hair more quickly than expected. Try french braiding your hair the night before for a cute crimped look. Constant heat on hair will fry the ends and make it next to impossible for your hair to grow because it will keep breaking off. Even though blow drying is not direct heat of an iron on your hair, the heat is still not good for your hair. Try to blow dry using the cool setting, even though it may require more patience. Washing your hair with cooler water than you shower with is healthier for your hair than hot water.

3. We all know dying your hair isn’t the healthiest of things but most of us do it, especially when the seasons change. We all want that fall look, whether it’s that edgy burgundy or just getting rid of your summer blonde highlights because they just aren’t as cute when the leaves begin to change. However, dying your hair causes mass amounts of damage. Avoid bleaching your hair at all costs. High level peroxides will also cause breakage in your hair. Try to only dye your hair every 6 weeks so your hair has time to heal itself. What are you supposed to do when your roots are coming in or your highlights are still coming through two weeks after you dye your hair? Or maybe the burgundy starts to fade? As we all know reds are the hardest to keep in and equally as hard to get out of our hair. It may be hard to wait to re dye your hair but try some new hairstyles to wear your hair up or wear a cute hat if your hair just isn’t what you expected right after you dye it.
4. Shampoo. Believe it or not, shampoo is not healthy for your hair. It makes your hair dry. Try to only shampoo your hair 4 times a week. You don’t need to shampoo every time you take a shower, try just conditioning from time to time. The only time you need to wash your hair every day is if you are working out or doing other rigorous activity that makes you sweat a lot. Speaking of shampoo, do not use Pantene ever. It is known to be bad for your hair and scalp due to its ingredients.
5. Diet. Believe it or not, you are what you eat. A poor diet and lack of nutrition will make your hair dry and brittle. Vitamins are essential to healthy hair, like biotin. Hair skin and nail vitamins work as well. Although, those vitamins have a tendency of making your face over moisturized, resulting in a breakout. Protein and minerals will also make your hair healthier. As always, the more water you drink the healthier you, and your hair, will be! Following these dieting tips will bring back the shine that you think your hair has lost.
Coconut oil works wonders! Try it on your teeth as well to increase whiteness! We all know that hot irons are not good for your hair, just good for your style. That goes for hair dye as well. Shampoo is a factor that most people do not consider when wondering how to get their hair health up because it is an everyday product women use on their hair that comes with advertisements of healthy hair. The more water in your diet you have, seems to help everything in your body so it’s no surprise that it helps your hair too! If you follow all, or even some of these steps, you will notice a difference in your luscious or not-so-luscious head of hair
