As college students, we’re caught in that part of our lives where nothing is going quite the way we’d like it to. We struggle to get optimal hours of sleep; healthy nutrition is by far one of the furthest things from our minds. We have raised stress levels and can’t relax long enough to lower them. It’s tough.

But don’t let any extraneous pressures disrupt you from keeping and meeting the goals that you have set for yourselves. The generations that came before us, our predecessors, have had to live their lives one way, and managed to get through their own generational struggles. To them it’s easy to say that we’re being dramatic and have no right to feel disappointed with the way our adulthoods are unfurling. As a unit, we aren’t making enough money to afford the forever climbing prices of apartments, we’re swimming in student loan debt, and we’re pushing to get our careers jump started that we’re putting committed relationships to the side. It’s hard for us to feel like adults when we can’t afford to live like adults.

That being said, the issues that we have are all too familiar, and I’m here to tell you that that’s okay. You just remember to keep pushing forward, no matter what it takes, keep pushing forward. The world we live in isn’t our best friend. Society will always be the bane of our existence, but only you have the power step out of the mundane box that society is known for trapping people in.

Dear Millennial, you are enough. Remember that. Write it down over and over until you can believe that for yourself. If you feel bogged down by work or that you won’t ever complete the tasks that are set up for you, remember that hard work begets success…and with success comes the ability to thrive. Speak wellness into your life, and leave negativity behind for all the naysayers to pick up. You are the most perfect version of yourself, uniquely made, and intelligent in your own right. Nothing and nobody can stop you from becoming the kind of person you want to be, no matter the difficulties that come with being a millennial.
