Internship DOs and DONT’S

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

DO: Dress for success

Stay classy, San Diego.

DON’T: dress for the club

We all love a good pair of stilettos, but maybe consider bringing a more practical pair that won’t kill your feet.

DO: make your name known around the office

Better start practicing that handshake er, “smeyes.”

DON’T: make a bad rep for yourself

No one wants to be that girl that comes in late, leaves early, and doesn’t know how to work the copy machine.

DO: Ask questions!

Remember, there’s no such thing as a dumb question…usually

DON’T: try to figure everything out on your own.

Interns don’t need to have all the answers!

DO: Ask for feedback

A resume critique or employer evaluation can help you improve for your next internship!

DON’T: Ask a random associate for a letter of recommendation on your last day.

Mention it in advance, and ask someone you worked closely with.

DO: Act like a sponge

Absorb anything and everything you can and HAVE FUN!
