It’s important to make your home your own. Whether you’re living on campus or off, chances are that while you’re in school, you’re living in a small space. Small spaces can easily be made homey and comfortable with just a little personalization. Ready to get inspired? These easy DIY projects will do just that.
1. Decorate your door
Turn your front door (or any door in your living space for that matter) into a work of art with tape! We recommend Washi tape; it comes in so many cute patterns. You can create patterns, pictures or even spell out words!
2. Grow a little green
Extra oxygen in the air can’t be a bad thing, especially when you’re studying. Succulents are easy plants to take care of that are not only super cute, but also will add that extra oxygen to your habitat that you need. Use old glasses or mason jars to create easy plant holders.
3. Simple shelving
Have old boxes lying around from moving or from your latest shopping spree? Boxes can create super cute wall art that is also functional. Here, patterned paper (or fabric) was added to the inside of these boxes before they were attached to the wall for additional cuteness. Any size box will do; varying sizes make for an interesting wall, as you see below. Shelving made easy!
4. Cords made cute
Have a bunch of cords lying around? We hate having to frantically shift through cords to try and find the right one. Plus, they can easily get mixed up with your roommates’ cords. Personalize yours so you’ll never mix them up again! Cords can be personalized with nail polish, string, bedazzles, tape, etc. We love this idea for headphones, too!
5. Show off your state
College is a unique time where people from all over the world come together. Personalize your space with a reminder of where you’re from. Cut out the shape of your state out of anything (we think this map idea is super cute). Add a little heart to the exact place where you’re from for extra cuteness. Remember: home is where the heart is!
That’s it for now. Get crafting, ladies!
