With each word we utter

One more loop is needled through our lips,

Willing us to submit to that tender silence.

But each time that threat

Approaches my mouth, I will scream

Out to my peers and beg

Them to carry on my voice,

Even after I have been muted.

To stand down is a crime unnatural,

And we will be unworthy of this freedom

We have fought so hard for.

Do not disappoint,

Become your own seamstress and

Learn to dethread your message from

The fallacies sewn into them in thick, deep red

Without shredding your powerful pink lips.

Do not allow us

To be collectively suppressed.

Join in solidarity

For “we have nothing to lose but our own chains.”
