There is nothing like the second semester of college that drags on forever. It sometimes feels like it is never going to end and that everything is too overwhelming to deal with. It seems like it takes you way longer to get back into your routine of things. It was like last semester I had everything done way ahead of time and now this semester I find myself waiting until the night before to complete some assignments. All that we are wishing for is to be done and to be enjoy the summer off with friends, family and hopefully traveling to new and exciting places. So here are a few helpful ways to kick those mid-semester blues.

Manage your personal time- This seems like such a simple task, but I promise it will make a huge difference. Don’t overload yourself with just school work and projects you need to get done in your academic life. Make time for friends, relaxing, and make time for you. Say yes to that cute boy who keeps asking you out, put that face mask on, and put those books down for a little while.

Spring Cleaning- This may be a hassle for some people, but for me at least, this can make me so relaxed and feel like I at least have something in my life going right. Taking some time to clean your room, scrub your bathroom that you have been neglecting, and throw a wash in quickly will take some of those items off of your to-do list.

Attend an Event- There are always things happening on campus and especially around the Scranton area that can spark your interest. Sometimes being in your same routine everyday can get exhausting and boring, so go out and find something new to try. Go try a painting class, go explore an area of the city you have never seen, try an exercise class on campus, or go and try that food spot you have been dying to taste. Doing something out of your dorm room/the library will be good for your soul.

And if all else fails, treat yourself- Trust me, we all deserve it. This doesn’t mean going out on a major shopping spree, but little things too. Meeting with that one friend for lunch, getting an ice cream after dinner, watching a movie before starting that essay, or sleeping in an extra ten minutes before class. Hard work stays maintained when it is rewarded and it’s important to make yourself feel good and for you to realize all the hard work you are doing.

Just a few more weeks and we are done! We can do it.
