24 people per minute. This is the ratio of people who are victims of violence, rape, and stalking according to the hotline.org. This is not okay. Many people believe if they are abused once they can look past it and it won’t happen again. This is SO false. If it happens once, the chances of it happening again are greater. No one deserves to feel so low that they accept abuse. The abuser should be the one feeling low and in some cases that’s usually the reason as to why they become the abuser. This does not by any means make it acceptable. There are many other ways to release anger other than hurting an individual, especially someone you “love.” No matter what someone is going through do not make excuses for them.

I stress in this article to not be afraid and come forward. If you come forward, you might also encourage someone else to step up. You could possibly save your own life and a life of someone else. This is not only a physical abuse but a mental abuse. This experience can give a person great trauma. Also, if someone mistreats you with words that is the first warning sign. I myself have never experienced this type of physical abuse but this is something I care strongly about.

As for abuse with words, most people have experienced someone of this nature. They are very manipulative and can make you start to believe their lies. They raise you up some days, so you depend on them for support just to break you down the next. Just because they are not physically touching you does not make this abuse okay either.

If you have ever gone through this and think no one cares, I do. I may not even know you in the slightest. I can also guarantee many other people care too. If people who don’t even know you care, I can promise the people who are in your life care immensely. I understand it’s difficult, but you don’t have to go through it alone and this article is to just express the care of many not just myself. So please, if you are a victim, realize your worth is priceless to others and if you are not a victim please learn to reach out to those who are. All it takes is one voice.
