Gaga for Gaga’s “Joanne”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

Lady Gaga’s recent album release has lifted the spirits of Little Monsters across the globe. The album, Joanne, has sat comfortably at the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 200 album list since its release. Some of the tracks featured on Gaga’s latest work stray from her typical sound, but don’t worry, there are still a few pop-filled dance tunes for those of you who crave the old Gaga! She named the album after her father’s late sister who passed tragically at 19-years-old. Also Gaga’s middle name, Joanne was the perfect title for an album created to show the world the perfect balance of her rebellious and romantic sides.

1. Diamond Heart

The chorus has a great dance beat, and although the vocals are advanced, it’s a super catchy tune!

2. A-YO

Clearly one of Gaga’s favorite tracks from the album, you won’t be able to sit still when listening to it. No one really knows what this song is even about, but who cares?

3. Joanne

As the title track, this song stands among the greatest of the album. It’ll probably bring you to tears at some point. So buckle up and enjoy Gaga’s soothing voice.

4. John Wayne

This song will take you back to the good ole days of “Poker Face” and “Judas” with its fast-paced club vibe!

5. Dancin’ In Circles

Honestly this is a weird one, but isn’t that what we love about her?

6. Perfect Illusion

This was the first song released off the album, and it’s one of the best! Her vocals are amazing and this track may very well be the greatest dance anthem she’s ever created.

P.S. Check out the vid!

7. Million Reasons

Heartbreaking. Unbelievable vocals. Tears may or may not be shed (they will be shed unless you’re heartless.)

8. Sinner’s Prayer

This is one of the more mellow songs on the album. It definitely won’t be loved by all, but it does have beautiful and relatable lyrics.

9. Come to Mama

Gaga sings about the need for peace and love in order to create a better world . . . she’s super cool.

10. Hey Girl (ft. Florence Welch)

Gaga and Flo rock out to this call-and-answer anthem!

11. Angel Down

It’s a soul-powered song full of emotion with a powerful message. It’s deep. You’ll love it.

12. Just Another Day

This track is perky and chill at the same time. I don’t think she’ll be remembered for this song in particular, but it ain’t bad!

13. Grigio Girls

Named after one of my favorite wines, Gaga rocks out to this tune about sisterhood.

14. Angel Down (Work Tape)

Somehow almost better than the finished version.

Check out some of Gaga’s Bud Light Dive Tour performances to get the full effect of the album! She’d want you to :)
