I have so much to say.  This summer was terrible, what can I say? Sometimes, only poetry is appropriate, when so much could be distorted. All I know is I can’t be silent.  My purpose in this article is to let all my friends know that I support their move toward freedom and justice.  Injustice is something that simply must be settled.  Our country is a place of justice and freedom for those who would desire it; regardless of what it looks like now.  This is my show of support towards that end for every African American, ultimately every American.  Freedom is not easy, but it is worth it.

Freedom
Freedom is a word of selfish delight
A private desire
A public fight

Â
Those who would gain it are warriors
While many desire and settle for less
A total freedom is a slap in the face, a vehicle inviting you to come in
Â
Simultaneously, a place of abandon, adventure, and sheer terror
The connection is the heart.
Suddenly working, beating, pumping in new life
Ready for the onslaughtÂ

Â
Freedom, so controversial
Those who would enter it choose the degree
A complete freedom is a decree of independence and of war
Yet, at the point of decision you are ready
Â
Freedom, worth living
Freedom, worth dying
Freedom is power
Â
Your power is in your choice
You say yes
You say no

Â
To be under the control of another
NoÂ
We choose. Â
We honor
We choose.
Â
The true measure is your decision
Â
The other side of no is conflict
Yet, is freedom worth it.
You were meant to be free
Â
Freedom no passive person possess
Don’t lose in the busyness of the day
Don’t let down, Don’t settle
You are meant for glory
Â
I will meet you on the other side.
