If you’re anything like me (ie. a broke, struggling, stressed college student), skincare products can be essential to saving what little self-esteem you have left. Over the years, I have tried so many products to help with my acne with little to no luck. Recently, though, I have found a skincare regime using almost all drugstore products that have really transformed my skin. I no longer have those little bumps all over, and my acne scars are fading slowly but surely. And, as I have the oiliest skin ever, this regime helps control my oiliness all day long. Keep reading if you want to see what works for me without breaking the bank!

Morning:

Trader Joe’s Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil

This soap alone has literally transformed my skin. In the past three years, I have tried everything from Neutrogena to Boscia and even Kiehl’s, and nothing has worked as well as this soap. It has a Castile soap base, meaning that it is a little more watery than usual, so definitely be careful using it. My skin never feels tight or dry, just clean. And since I started using this, I literally only breakout around that time of the month. This stuff is really magical.

Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner

I use this toner in the morning to really help with oil control. I use a cotton ball to apply this all over, making sure to really hit my t-zone and anywhere else that tends to get oily. It leaves my skin feeling super refreshed and hydrated.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion SPF 15

This lotion in the morning is the perfect thing for my skin. With super oily skin, I hate thick creams or lotions that make my skin feel slick or greasy. This lotion does just the opposite. It hydrates my skin while also providing an extra barrier between my makeup and my skin.

Night:

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

I use these wipes to removes my makeup at the end of the day, and have been for almost a year. They are gentle enough to not irritate my eyes, and I have not noticed any new breakouts from these wipes. And let’s be real, after a night out we don’t always take the time to do our entire nighttime skincare routine. These are my lifesavers during times like those.

Trader Joe’s Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil

You already know my thoughts on this goodie!

Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-Eliminating Astringent

After washing my face, I apply this astringent with a cotton ball all over my face, careful to avoid my eye area, just like with the toner. It helps to remove any makeup that my remover and face wash might have missed, while also helping in fighting any breakouts that I may have. It also feels really cool and refreshing.

Vitamin C Serum

This serum is a little pricier, but still very much affordable. After doing some research, I found that Vitamin C is really beneficial in helping to renew skin and help acne scars fade. I use about 4-5 drops and pat it in all over my face at night after using the Neutrogena astringent. It works like a charm and doesn’t make my face feel greasy at all.

Equate Beauty Moisturizing Lotion

Taking being on a budget to a new level, I purchased the Equate brand facial lotion in hopes that it would be just like the Cetaphil lotion, and it is literally the same exact product for half the price. Even though I have super oily skin, it can tend to feel a bit dry sometimes, especially in winter. This provides the perfect amount of moisture without making my face look like I rubbed baby oil all over it. And it’s not too thick that I can’t use it in the summer, which is a plus. I usually only use this at night unless I’m feeling super dry in the morning.
