4 Ways to Save Money in College

  1. Take advantage of the school cafeteria

Instead of buying bowls, spoons, forks or plates, just borrow some from your school cafeteria. You do pay tuition and it’s not stealing as long as you promise yourself to put it back at the end of the year.

You can also save money on food by taking loaves of bread, their packaged butter or even take some Tupperware and refrigerate your favorite foods. They throw out the left-over food anyway, so you’re technically doing them a favor.

Instead of buying milk, take a jug to the cafeteria and fill up there and keep it in your fridge in your room. This way, you don’t have to go to the dining hall every time you want cereal and milk.

  1. Use the coupons and discount codes

If you have a P.O. box at your college, you will often get coupon codes in the mail. Save them until the next time you eat out and the coupon might come in handy.

Also, as you’re online shopping, take advantage of those discount codes, because in the end, they will save you a lot of money. Also, you might be able to get a couple extra items for the same price of what you were going to spend anyway.

The app “Unidays” will definitely come in handy. They have discounts for students for most clothing stores, such as Urban Outfitters and even Samsung.

  1. Ask friends to sell you textbooks instead of going to the bookstore

College bookstores, and even online sellers, make books extremely expensive. Try buying books from other students or friends so that you won’t spend as much money. Maybe even talk to your friends and decide whether you will even need to use the assigned book for the class and don’t buy it at all.

  1. Work in clubs that give you free things

There are many clubs on campus that are free to join and you can get free clothing, accessories, or even gift cards, just from joining. Not only will this be a fantastic aid in you doing laundry less often, but it is also a great resume builder.
