Five diamond rings on each brown finger

Met with the prettiest manicure I’d ever seen

She spoke with her hands hardly saying a word

Everyone following her silent instructions.

Her pedicure matched perfectly with every finger

As she stood ten toes down, six inches off the ground

In designer heels that looked too expensive to walk in

But yet she did it.

Gracefully and effortlessly

Her long brown legs carried her

And allowed her to stand so tall

Compared to everyone else.

She was met with a fine, dark, man

Who was covered in melanin

Dripped— no drenched in gold

From head to toe.

And when he saw her

His face lit up and he smiled

Showing his Gold plated teeth

Ten on the top, and ten on the bottom

Just as coordinated as she was.

French for her, and Golds for him.

The Black Barbie and Ken

Covered in gold and jewels

Rich in pigment and in wealth

Slowly taking over

By just simply existing.

I have a lot to say, so I put it in writing 🤎

Savannah '21

I am from Gainesville, Ga. I have two Associate Degrees. One in Business Administrative Technology and the other one in Accounting from Lanier Technical College. Ever since I was in middle school, I knew I wanted to attend Savannah State University because I had to do a project on a college, and that was my college to research. I knew a few of my family members attended; only knowing Savannah State is a Historically Black College University. Now I am a twenty-eight-year-old senior majoring in Business Management. My goal is to have my own plus size boutique. I am also in the process of starting my own lip gloss line. I will tell anybody it is never too late to go after your dream.
