Actor Thomas Mikal Ford Passes Away at 52

Last week ’90s sitcom lovers lost a legend. Actor Thomas Mikal Ford passed away at an Atlanta hospital at the age of 52 from a stomach aneurysm on Oct. 12.

Ford began his acting career on the television series A Different World as Lamar Collins but, he was better known for his character Tommy Strawn on the television show Martin which aired for five years.

Ford’s character on Martin was known as to “not having a job” when in reality his character worked as a counselor at the Boys & Girls Club.

Ford continued his career on the hit show New York Undercover as Lt. Malcolm Barker and other sitcoms and films such as The Parkers and Harlem Nights.

Aside from acting, Ford had begun a children’s book series entitled I Am Beautiful. He was also  affiliated with Verse 9 line of ties, Tommy Ties.

Ford’s cast mate and friend Martin Lawrence shared his condolences about his passing via Twitter.

“My heart is heavy with the loss of my brother @BigTommyFord May he Rest In Peace.” Lawrence tweeted.

“We were friends b4 the Martin show & showed our tru friendship on-screen. You brought a lot of love 2 the world & you’ll be greatly missed.”

On the show Martin, Ford may have been represented as to not having a job and soon revealed but he had an extra one. It was to entertain the audience and make them laugh.
