The semester is quickly coming to an end, which means deadlines for papers, exams, projects, presentations and meetings are also approaching quicker than you might like. Better yet, all of your responsibilities most likely all fall on the same day. If this sounds anything like you, it’s definitely time to organize and prioritize. Here are some tips to surviving the end of the semester:

1. STAY HEALTHY!

It is so important to eat well and exercise EVERY DAY. First off, drink lots of water. Hunger is often mistaken for thirst. So next time you feel hungry, drink water first. Secondly, stock up on healthy snacks for those “down” moments and avoid late night snacks. Thirdly, stay active and exercise whenever you can. Even if it’s only for 25 minutes, it counts. Go for walks. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. And for those days that you are snowed in or just don’t feel like committing to the bitter cold walk to the Pitt center, there are plenty of workouts on Pinterest that you can do right in your room.

2. KEEP A PLANNER!

UGH. Nobody likes to forget things. Write everything down in a planner and you’ll be surprised how simple your life will become. It will keep you organized and definitely less stressed. So say goodbye to those missed assignments and hello to those A+ grades.

3. MANAGE YOUR MONEY!

Try putting away your credit card for a couple of days a month. Your wallet will appreciate the break and make you think before getting that cute dress next time. However, make sure to give yourself a “splurge budget” every once in a while. In December, for instance, your “splurge budget” can be for holiday shopping. And always remember that managing money is not a one size fits all. Everyone handles their money differently, so it is important to create your own management strategies.

3. GET THAT BEAUTY SLEEP!

Getting a full night’s sleep is super important. Not only will it help prepare you for the busy day that tomorrow holds, but it will also prevent any unhealthy (late night) eating habits. And girls, believe it or not, it helps with your complexion! If you’re sleeping at least eight hours a night, you can forget about those inconvenient blemishes and dark circles, and instead be able to smile like the beautiful woman you are!

4. ATTENDANCE IS MAJOR!

It’s simple: Go to class! Every teacher is required to take attendance in class. Even though some teachers won’t say so, your attendance can play a key role in your final grade. At the end of the year, when your grade is between an A and a B, your attendance can play a part.

5. MAKE IT IMPORTANT!

If you’re emailing your professor, make sure to put your name with one or two key words in the subject. For example, “Jane Doe- Test Question.” We are all guilty of deleting emails that look like spam, but you don’t want your professors to accidentally delete yours– especially if you are emailing him or her with a question regrding your final paper.

6. LINKEDIN NOW!

With many of you on the hunt for spring semester internships, LinkedIn is a step in the right direction. It’s never too early to make a LinkedIn account. If you already have one, then pat yourself on the back for being ahead of the game. If you don’t have an account, no worries. Creating an account is a simple and easy process. Widen your professional career opportunities by creating an account before heading home for winter break.

7. LAST BUT NOT LEAST…HAVE FUN.

But most importantly, HAVE FUN! Don’t worry about regrets. Try stepping out of your comfort zone, create a lifetime of memories and develop relationships that could last forever.
